Amritsar: CM changed in Punjab but State Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu's attitude towards his government did not change. Sidhu, who rebelled against Captain Amarinder Singh, has now started threatening the Channi government as well. In fact, Navjot Singh Sidhu has said that he will go on a hunger strike if the Channi government does not make public the report on drugs and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

It may be recalled that Navjot Singh Sidhu's threat to his own party government is not new. He had a long argument with Captain Amarinder Singh and Amarinder finally quit the party. Even Channi, who was made a chief minister after Amarinder Singh, has not good relation with Sidhu. Sidhu had also resigned as Punjab Congress president some time ago. However, Sidhu later withdrew his resignation in a reversal. Recently, when Channi did not take them to Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara, tension swelled once again between the two.

Punjab AG APS Deol and Sidhu clashed over the sacrilege and drugs case. Due to the pressure of Sidhu, CM Channi had to remove the Advocate General of Punjab from the post. Sidhu had said, 'Our Congress party came to power with a promise of justice in cases of cruelty in which you (AG APS Deol) appeared before the High Court on behalf of the main conspirators/accused and levelled serious allegations against our government.'
