Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has written to interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi today i.e. Under the information received, Sidhu in this letter spoke about some priority areas which should be convened by the Punjab government. Sidhu is said to have written the letter at a time when he is witnessing a tussle with the state chief minister's Charanjeet Singh Channi. In his letter, Sidhu also sought time from Punjab Congress President Sonia Gandhi to introduce a Punjab model with a 13-point agenda for the Congress manifesto.

The letter has been written in the reference to the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. Also inform you that Sidhu had earlier said last Friday, "His concerns have been addressed and the party said he will continue as the head of the state unit.'' Let me also tell you that the incident comes days after Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress president. You must be aware that tension prevailed between Punjab CM Charanjit Channi and Sidhu when Congress high command, Channi and Rawat finalised the new Punjab cabinet without taking Sidhu into account. Sources said Sidhu was upset over Rana Gurjit Singh being inducted into the cabinet.

At the same time, he complained that only Pargat Singh, one of Sidhu's loyalists, got a portfolio of his choice. In fact, Sidhu says he was sidelined by the high command in the cabinet expansion and Amarinder Singh's loyalist Brahma Mohindra was given a big post.
