Oxygen concentrater case: Navneet Kalra reaches HC for bail, congress MP becomes his lawyer

New Delhi: Navneet Kalra, owner of Delhi's famous Khan Chacha restaurant caught in black marketing of oxygen concentrater, has now moved the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail. In fact, a lower court in Delhi had turned down his anticipatory bail plea. The Saket court in Delhi had refused anticipatory bail after hearing the arguments of Navneet Kalra's lawyer. Navneet Kalra then approached the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail. The trial of the case continued till late Thursday evening.

Senior advocate and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for Navneet Kalra in the high court. Navneet told the court through his lawyer that he was being hunted down by the media. He is neither importer nor producer. He runs a restaurant and optical business. Navneet Kalra's lawyer told the court that Kalra had done no harm. There is no such order under the Essential Commodities Act. Navneet Kalra has deep roots in society. The court continued to hear the case till late in the night.

Earlier, the anticipatory bail plea of Navneet Kalra, an accused in the oxygen concentrater case, was rejected by the Saket court. Kalra had filed an anticipatory bail plea to avoid arrest. Navneet Kalra has been absconding with his family ever since the case was revealed.
