Navratri is one of the main festival of Hindus which is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. The devotees worship the nine different forms of the Goddess Durga in this nine days festival. Goddess Durga is symbol of purity, power and divinity and devotees worship her to seek her blessing. It is belived that Goddess Durga listens to the prayers of her devotees and fulfills all their wishes.

Navratri 2018, date and auspicious time 

This year also Navratri will be celebrated with great enthusiasm from October 10 to October 18. Nine days of Navratri are so auspicious that there is no need to look for Muhurat in order to perform any auspicious work during this period.

Nine forms of Goddess

Navratri which means nine nights, people worships the different nine form of the goddess durga. During Navratras, the nine forms of Goddess Shakti are worshipped on the nine different days. Maa Shailputri, Brahmaachaareenee, Chandraghanta, Kushmaanda, Skandmaata, Kaatyaayeenee, Kaalraatree, Mahagauri and Sidhidaatree are the nine forms of Durga which are worshiped by the devotes in different days in order.

Hindu devotees, espically women waits for this fest and starts and preapre for this fest in advance. Devotees install the idol of Goddess Durga and perform aarti and Bhajans to seek her blessings. devotees observe the fast during this nine day event and perform Garba (a form of dance). On the 9th (Navmi), people invites girls for the lunch which is also known as ‘Kanya Bhoj’ .After nine day celebration people immerse the idol in water bodies.
