Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has taken a significant decision to make changes within the party after the arrest of Maharashtra's Minority Development Minister Nawab Malik. The post of Minority Affairs and Guardian Minister from Nawab Malik will be temporarily handed over to other ministers. The decision was taken at a meeting of NCP leaders at Sharad Pawar's house on Thursday.

The same Nawab Malik was the Guardian Minister of Parbhani and Gondia districts. These days Nawab Malik is in judicial custody. Therefore, Dhananjay Munde has been made the Guardian Minister of Parbhani district. Minister of State for Water Resources and NCP state president Jayant Patil said that therefore Dhananjay Munde will be the Guardian Minister of Parbhani district and Prajkat Tanpure will be the Guardian Minister of Gondia district. Meanwhile, Malik has not resigned. Jayant Patil also said that he will continue in the post as he is.

Jayant Patil said Nawab Malik is still the accounts minister. At the same time, the responsibility he has in the party remains. However, since he is not currently available, others are being given the position in charge by keeping them in the same post. The ED had arrested Nawab Malik in the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case. He was remanded in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate till March 3. Nawab Malik is accused of buying land owned by Hasina Parkar.
