Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife  Begum Kulsoom Nawaz died in London on Tuesday. Her husband Nawaj Sharif and daughter Maryam Sharif are imprisoned in Rawalpindi Jail. Begum Kulsoom was placed on life support earlier today as her health had begun to deteriorate as she had developed a lung problem and finally she took the last breath at the age of 68.

According to Pakistani media, Begum Kulsoom had been diagnosed with early-stage lymphoma in August last year and had been in London. 68- year- old had been going through many surgeries and nearly five chemotherapy sessions but nothing worked. She suffered a cardiac arrest, therefore, she placed on the ventilator in June and even she has shown improvement ay before her husband and daughter were set to return to Pakistan to serve their sentences in the Avenfield corruption.

Kulsoom was born in 1950 in Lahore to a Kashmiri family. She got married to former prime minister  Nawaz Sharif in 1971. She also entered politics and served as president of the PML-N from 1999 to 2002 after Nawaz Sharif’s government was dismissed by former president Pervez Musharraf.

Nawaz and Kulsoom has four children, two sons Hassan and Hussain, two daughters Maryam and Asma
