In Kolkata, on June 4 the “Human Resource Development Ministry” released a statement regarding the amendments in the NCERT syllabus.
The HRD minister Prakash Javadekar explained that the current syllabus of NCERT confined and “cramped”, hence requires major changes.
He added that the syllabus would be made half of the original syllabus.
The minister also expressed his sincere concern in a press conference, that a child requires physical education, value based education and life skills also, alongside academics.
He said that all the central schools across the country would be given grants of Rs.5000 to the primary, Rs.10000 to the upper primary, Rs.25000 to the HSC and SSC level schools to encourage sports in their curriculum.
To develop libraries, the schools shall be given a grant of Rs.5000 to Rs.20,000.
He further added that the amendments made in the Right to Education[RTE] act regarding the “No detention policy” would be presented to the parliament in July.
The minister informed that the new education policy would be presented before the Union Cabinet towards the end of June.
About the National Testing Agency, he declared that “We will get a chairman soon. Once the complete board is set up, it will start working from the 2019 session.
