Mumbai: The Income Tax Department has temporarily attached properties worth over 1,000 crore rupees belonging to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. However, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has now responded to this. NCP says, "Pawar has nothing to do with it and the aim is to defame him. Recently, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik alleged that central agencies want to put pressure on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, which is aligned with Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP. At the same time, he has also said, "The ruling party and everyone associated with it will face it without fear.''

Let me tell all of you that after extensive raids across the country last month on premises belonging to Ajit Pawar's relatives, income tax department officials on Tuesday issued temporary orders to attach his properties in Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Goa and more than two dozen plots across the state. The total value of this attachment property in the market is said to be around Rs 1,400 crore. Recently, an Income Tax source confirmed that his Benami Property Department has issued temporary orders under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act of 1988 to attach various properties belonging to his family members including Partha Pawar, son of NCP leader. On the other hand, senior NCP minister Malik said in the case, "It is being reported that the Income Tax Department has attached properties related to Ajit Pawar, but there is no truth in it. This property belongs to everyone and they are saying that it belongs to Ajit Pawar. This has been done to defame him.''

He also said, "What happened (alleged misuse of central agencies) in West Bengal is now happening in Maharashtra.'' At the same time, he said, "Before the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP put pressure on many leaders, leaving their party and joining the BJP. The same leaders now say that he can now sleep peacefully because there is no pressure on him to investigate any central agencies.''
