New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has opposed in the Delhi High Court the plea of AltNews co-founder and alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair seeking the quashing of an FIR lodged against him. The commission told the high court that Mohammad Zubair has not yet deleted the tweet against the minor girl.

The commission also said that Zubair has not given any information about the users who sexually assaulted the minor girl to the concerned authorities. The hearing in the Delhi High Court took place on Monday (October 10, 2022). According to media reports, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights described it as a serious issue in the High Court. According to the commission, the Delhi Police clearly states that Zubair is trying to divert the case instead of cooperating in the investigation. It has been pointed out by the commission that Zubair also intends to tamper with evidence. The hearing was being held in connection with the POCSO Act FIR registered against Mohammad Zubair.

In the Delhi High Court, the Child Protection Commission told about Zubair's act. The commission said the photograph of a minor girl was retweeted by Zubair, revealing her identity. In the same reply, the Delhi Police has been quoted as saying that due to this, the minor girl was a victim of online sexual harassment. AltNews is notorious for making personal and confidential information of individuals public in the name of fact-checking. Mohammad Zubair made public the photo of the minor girl on August 7, 2020, to publicly embarrass a Twitter user. The girl was the granddaughter of the user and had received rape threats after Zubair's tweet. In this case, Zubair was booked under SECTION 509B of IPC, IT Section 67 as well as the POCSO Act. The FIR also names twitter accounts @de_real_mak and @syedsarwar who used abusive words for the girl.
