On Saturday, the Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Prof. M. Jagdish Kumar was attacked by the students. The number of attackers is said to be 10 to 15. The JNU Teacher's Federation (JNUTF) has demanded an administrative inquiry and action on the accused, but the JNU Students' Union has denied it.

The Vice-Chancellor has said that on Saturday he went to JNU's School of Arts and Esthetics for some work. There, 10 to 15 students tried to surround and demolish them. He said that the students wanted to attack him, but the security personnel present there somehow saved him. During this, the glass of his car was broken.

Apart from this, teachers associated with JNUTF have said that we condemn the attack by the students along with the Vice-Chancellor. The students of the VC's car have also broken the glass. The gate of his office was also broken. Delhi High Court has directed the police to provide security to the Vice Chancellor, Registrar. Police should provide security to them. At the same time, the students union denied the allegations and said that the Vice Chancellor had reached the School of Arts and Esthetics. When some students questioned him on the hostel issue, he left from there without giving any answer. He said that our demand is that the Vice Chancellor should talk to the representatives of the students' union elected through elections.
