New Delhi: The year 2020 has been a year of economic crisis due to the global epidemic corona virus. The percentage of suicides among traders increased by 50% over 2019. Not only that, the business community also recorded more deaths than farmers. According to the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 11,716 traders committed suicide in 2020 compared to 10,677 farmers a year, out of which 4,356 were "tradesmen" and 4,226 were "sellers" out of more than 11,000 deaths. The rest have been included in the category of other businesses.

These are three groups in which NCRB have classified khudkushi's record. Compared to 2019, suicides among the business community increased by 29 percent in 2020. Among traders, khudkushi increased from 2,906 in 2019 to 4,356 in 2020. This number is 49.9 percent higher. The total suicide figure in the country increased by 10 percent to 1,53,052, the highest ever. Traditionally such deaths have always been seen less in the business community than in farmers.

Small traders and traders suffered heavy losses during the lockdown, many people were forced to close the shutters. Small businesses were very badly affected in the year of Covid. Until now, it was believed that more farmers are self-employed because of crop failure and rising debt, but this shows that tensions in the business class are not low. The epidemic has made it worse.
