Kochi: A claim by P.C.George, a BJP ally in Kerala and a partner of the NDA, has created a stir in the state politics. Addressing a press conference in Kottayam after his party's state committee meeting, P.C. George said, "I have come to know that six Congress MPs and three MLAs are interacting with the BJP central leadership in the state."

George's Kerala People's Party recently became part of the BJP-led NDA in the state. He claimed this at a time when the Congress has suffered a setback due to the defection of its MLAs in Karnataka and Goa. P.C. George is an MLA from Poonjar area of Kerala. George's rhetoric has led to a buzz in the political corridor as to whether the 'BJP' or its allies after Karnataka are now in the throes of a rift in Kerala.

Though it is only a topic of discussion at the moment, leaders in Karnataka's political drama-filled atmosphere are not shying away from claiming. George declined to give further details. Later, when contacted by the news agency, the senior legislator said that he could not give details about the talks but claimed that people from the Congress camp in Kerala would go to the BJP. George's claims have been rejected by KPCC Vice President V D Satison and he has been described as "big" and said he is making such rhetoric only to get media attention. Satison said that no state Congress leader will join the BJP.
