New Delhi: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will include women in its new battalions in the coming year. In 2018, the central government proposed to include women in the country's NDRF battalions. NDRF Director General SN Pradhan said that earlier, we did not have barracks and other facilities available for women. But now we are in a position to include them and we have already started the process of calling women operators.

Pradhan had gone to West Bengal recently to inaugurate the second battalion of the NDRF headquarters complex at Haringhata, 55 km from here. Here he said that we had requested the Central Government that some women personnel should be sent for the new four battalions. It should be within a year. Apart from 12 battalions of NDRF, there will be four new battalions and their base will be in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi region.

NDRF is a special force which was formed in the year 2006. This force plays an important role in relief and rescue operations during natural calamities and man-made accidents or critical situations.
