Chandigarh: Punjab Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi recently said, "Cash prize money will be given to around 2400 players who were deprived of prize money during the tenure of the previous government". He also said, 'From the year 2017 till now, the winning players of the national-international level will also be given a cash prize and they will also be honoured.' Sodhi said all these things during the meeting on Wednesday.
District sports officers from across the state participated in this meeting. Meanwhile, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi asked the departmental officers to prepare lists for the orderly distribution of the prizes. He also said, 'The department has funds for the disbursement of prize money to the national international achievers, including 2339 players from the years 2007 to 2015, whose distribution will be started soon.'
Further, he also directed that RT-PCR test of every player abounds' Thermal scanning must be done in place of admission of stadiums. Training programs should be imparted in groups instead of the attendance of all the players at the same time. Stadiums will be germ-free after every training session. He also said, "If a player wants to participate in international matches, he needs financial help, he can seek help by meeting with the concerned District Sports Officer".
