NAGPUR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat has strongly supported for women empowerment in the country, and said that men and women are equal parts in all respects,  and have equal potential and strength.

Addressing RSS Swayamsevaks on Wednesday during the traditional Vijayadashami celebration held at the sprawling Reshimbagh ground , Bhagwat said that although women are revered as the "mother of the universe," at home they are treated like "slaves." He argued that women should be empowered from the inside out and given their proper role in society.

Bhagwat emphasised the significance of women's roles in achieving the goal of making India a "vishwa guru" once more (world leader). "Equal involvement of women is also necessary if we want to construct a vishwa guru Bharat," he said, adding that improvements were also being seen in society.

As the first female chief guest for such an event in the 97-year history of RSS, Padma Shri Santosh Yadav, a renowned mountaineer, was present, the RSS leader was lecturing on women's empowerment in front of him.

He recalled that Amrita Kaur, a prominent Congress leader and former Union Minister, as well as Anusuabai Kale, the first Lok Sabha member from Nagpur, were among the other women who had previously been invited to an RSS event.

Bhagwat claimed that India was quickly rebounding from the economic crisis as a result of Covid and that India's actions during the political unrest in Sri Lanka as well as the war in Ukraine were praiseworthy. In response to these two events, Bhagwat claimed, "Our political weight has increased around the globe," he said.

The RSS chairman stated that since the interaction with members of minority populations has been ongoing for years, it will continue. Even prominent Muslim leaders in the nation have denounced the violent occurrences. Bhagwat declared, "We support living in peace and harmony.
