New Delhi: The 'Made in India' corona vaccine is seen all over the world now. Many countries of the world are demanding the vaccine manufactured in India in the war against the coronavirus and many of them have been sent free of cost. Now Nepal Army Chief Purna Chandra Thapa has taken the first dose of the 'Made in India' corona vaccine to advance the credibility and acceptance of the vaccine made in India.

Last month, Nepal received the second consignment of the Indian corona vaccine, in which 10 lakh doses were made available. The consignment of the 'AstraZeneca' vaccine made available to Nepal has been produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII) under the name 'Covishield'. Its emergency use was approved in Nepal in January 2021. The immunization campaign started thereafter India sent consignments.

The second consignment of vaccines sent to Nepal will be used to immunize the elderly there. The vaccine will be given a priority to people above 60 years of age. In Nepal, the elderly population is 8.73 percent. On March 7, the second phase of the vaccination campaign is to be started there. India has provided the corona vaccine under 'Vaccine Friendship' to almost all the neighboring countries except Pakistan.
