Between the lockdown and the corona transition, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, while advocating amendment in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act for farmers, said on Friday that it would benefit the farmers. He said, 'Our ideals farmers have been given first place. Under the new amendment made in the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act, farmers will get the opportunity to sell their crop directly outside the APMC or in any other market.

In his statement, the state Chief Minister Yeddyurappa said, 'The amendments will not violate the functions of APMCs. Directorate of state APMC will monitor all these marketing activities. This will increase the income of farmers and they will be able to avoid the fluctuations in the markets.

On Thursday, the state cabinet decided to bring an ordinance to amend this law. The purpose of this amendment is to double the income of farmers. Under the new law, the farmer can sell his crops anywhere where it can get adequate prices. Flowers, vegetables and failed vendors, including millions of farmers, will get the benefit, which has been in a big loss for the last 50 days. They are going through a bad phase during lockdown because their business has come to a standstill.
