A research-based book on Assamese travelogue was released recently at an event in Guwahati. The title of the book is" Adhunik Asomiya Bhraman Sahitya: Oitihya Aru Shilpa."The 400-page book has been published by city-based publishing house Purbayan Prakashan.The book is written in simple, easy-to-understand style.
The book was launched by Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University vice-chancellor Dipak Kumar Sharma. The writer of the book is Smiti Rekha Bhuyan, who teaches Assamese literature at Guwahati College, chronicles the growth and development of modern Assamese travel writing. well-known novelist Lakshmi Nandan Bora said that written in a very lucid, easy-to-understand style, this is a first of its kind book on the subject.
The writer has done a critical survey of the Assamese travelogues written by some celebrated writers. The book contains 12 chapters, It brilliantly details the historical trajectory of the development of travel writing in modern Assamese literature.
