New Delhi: Even after making strict laws against triple talaq in the country, atrocities on Muslim women are not stopping. The latest case has come to light from Jamia Nagar in New Delhi. Here the husband, who left his wife after giving triple talaq nine years ago, took his friend to her house to remarry her. The accused husband threatened the woman that if she did not do Halala with his friend and did not marry him again, he would kill her.

The Jamia Nagar police station has registered an FIR against the accused on the complaint of the woman. The victim told that the accused Riyazuddin Khan is the secretary of Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM in Uttar Pradesh. The victim also mentioned in her complaint that Riyazuddin had married her in January 2012, claiming himself to be a divorcee. The woman later came to know that he was not divorced and already had a wife. The victim alleged that he along with his first wife used to harass her. Meanwhile, the woman also gave birth to a son. At the end of the year 2012, the accused left the victim by giving triple talaq.

The woman told that '9 years later, on the night of August 19, 2021, he reached my house with a friend and asked me to do Halala with his friend and marry him again.' When I refused him to do so, he forced me, tore my clothes, and even beaten me. Hearing the noise, neighbors started coming out, after which both of them fled. The report said that the victim had filed public interest litigation in the apex court on March 26, 2018, to declare polygamy and nikah Halala illegal. The hearing in this regard is still going on in the Supreme Court.
