Gujarat: India, known for its rich cultural heritage and historical treasures, continues to celebrate its past with the introduction of a unique heritage train. In a significant move to preserve the nation's history, the central government has launched a heritage train service in Gujarat. The inaugural ceremony, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marked the official commencement of this historical voyage. This exceptional train promises to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.

Connecting two prominent destinations in Gujarat, Ekta Nagar and Ahmedabad, this heritage train opens up new avenues for exploring the state's historical gems. Notably, it provides a convenient means of reaching the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue, paying tribute to the great freedom fighter, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Steam Heritage Special Train made its maiden voyage on October 31, coinciding with Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, celebrated in India as a day to honor the "Iron Man of India."
While the heritage train was officially inaugurated on October 31, it will be ready to welcome passengers starting from November 5. Services will be exclusively available on Sundays, as this day witnesses the highest footfall at tourist sites. The train's frequency will be adjusted based on visitor response.

The Journey Schedule: The heritage train embarks on its journey from Ahmedabad at 6:10 am, destined for Ekta Nagar railway station, situated just 7 kilometers from the small town of Kevadia. Kevadia is renowned for hosting the Statue of Unity, a towering 182-meter monument to the Iron Man of India, located within the reservoir of the Sardar Sarovar dam.

The return journey from Ekta Nagar departs at 8:23 pm, reaching Ahmedabad at 12:05 am. Covering a distance of 182 kilometers between these two significant destinations, the heritage train promises a seamless voyage through the picturesque plains of Gujarat without any intermediate stops.

Ticket Pricing: To partake in this enchanting journey aboard the heritage train, visitors will need to invest an amount of Rs 885 for a one-way trip. The train consists of three coaches, each with a capacity of 48 passengers.

Furthermore, passengers will have the opportunity to relish tea and snacks in the 28-seat air-conditioned dining car. This dining car offers a comfortable ambiance, with elegant teak wood dining tables and cushy two-seater sofas, ensuring a delightful journey for all.
