New Delhi: Oil companies have released thursday's petrol-diesel prices. The Delhi government had reduced the VAT on petrol by about Rs 8 the previous day, after which the price of petrol in the national capital has come down drasticy. Petrol is being sold at the lowest price in Delhi itself in all the four metros. According to iocl.com, petrol is being sold at Rs 95.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 86.67 per litre in Delhi.

On the other hand, there has been no change in the rate of petrol and diesel in Mumbai. Petrol costs Rs 109.98 per litre and diesel Rs 94.14 per litre in Mumbai. In addition, in other metros, petrol is being sold at Rs 104.67 and diesel at Rs 89.79, Chennai at Rs 101.40 per litre and diesel at Rs 91.43 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices have remained stable for nearly a month and oil companies have given continuous relief to the public. It may be noted that on the occasion of Deepawali, the Central Government had given gifts to the people at the ever increasing oil prices. The government had reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by five and ten rupees. Thereafter, the NDA territories reduced VAT, after which the Congress governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Punjab also reduced VAT. The Kejriwal government on Wednesday also reduced vat on petrol from 30% to 19.40 per cent.
