The Government of Chhattisgarh has made a tremendous effort to fight against Corona. The effect of which has also been seen but after the relaxation of the lockdown, all the hard work has been restored. On July 20, it plans to buy cow dung at the rate of Rs 1.50 per kg from cattle rearers, officials said, adding that it would be started with Hareli Utsav. The government spokesman said that the recommendation to buy cow dung was made by the state cabinet minister Ravindra Chaube on Saturday.
CM Bhupesh Baghel announced the plan on 25 June. He stated in his statement that it would be used for mass production of vermicompost (the product of decomposition of organic materials brought by insects). He had said that it would be launched on Hareli Utsav, which is celebrated for the beginning of agricultural activities.
The purpose of this scheme is to take animal husbandry forward. The same is to ensure livestock security and strengthen the rural economy. While the cabinet sub-committee deliberated on the purchase price, the purchase, financial management and production of another vermicompost was planned under the leadership of Chief Secretary KP Mandal. At the same meeting, Choubey said that cow dung would be collected door-to-door by women of 'Gowdhan' committees and self-help groups and a purchase card would be issued in which the purchase data would be kept. The official said that the urban administration department and forest committees will oversee the scheme in their areas.
