USA: You will soon be able to post voice messages as status on WhatsApp. Instead of posting text, you will be able to record voice clips with this feature.

According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned app is rolling out this option to a select group of beta users on the Android channel via update version 2.23.2.8.

This facility will operate as follows. The Voice Status function for WhatsApp has been in development for a while. It has been under development since July 2022 and now seems to be taking shape.

In the form of status updates, you could previously only share text, images, and videos; However, you can now share voice clips as well. In the coming weeks, we expect the feature to be released to the stable channel.

Go to the Text Status section where you should see a "Microphone" icon to use the feature. Voice positions are limited to 30 seconds and end-to-end encrypted.

This indicates that the status will be heard only by those contacts that you have selected in your privacy settings. Like other status updates, voice status updates also disappear after 24 hours.

To view and post Voice Status, beta users need to download the latest version of the app. In the coming weeks, more users will have access to the feature.

A shortcut is being developed by WhatsApp that will let you block users directly from the notification panel. Additionally, the app is creating a new block shortcut that will be added to the chat list.

You will not need to open the chat window to block the user using this shortcut. These two options are being worked on and will be available soon.
