The New Zealand has declared a nine-member core team for the one-day series against India which is scheduled to start the from next month. The Allrounder player Jimmy Neesham has not been given the place in the New Zealand squad. The Six other players in the team will be included to the New Zealand A team who is currently touring India.

The New Zealand team will play three ODIs in India which is scheduled to start in Mumbai from October 22 onwards. There will also be a series of three T20 matches after the one-day series.

The New Zealand A team is currently playing a series against India A in which two first-class matches and five ODIs will be played. 

Neesham and batsman Neil Broom have been dropped from the team after failing to perform well in the ICC Champions Trophy in June. Coach Mike Hesson said, "The nine players we have chosen have been an important member of our ODI team for the last few years and everyone has the experience of playing in India."

He further said that "Our top players are already Playing in India, therefore selecting the team in two parts will be helpful. There are six places left which will encourage the players from New Zealand A team to perform their best in the matches."
