New Zealand's batting coach Peter Fulton has resigned from his post. The reason for Fulton's resignation is that he has got the responsibility as head coach in a home team. Peter Fulton is set to join Canterbury's men's team next month as head coach. The County Cricket Board has informed about this on Thursday. He has played international cricket for New Zealand. Peter Fulton, who played 23 Tests and 49 ODIs for New Zealand, joined the team as a batting coach in August after the World Cup 2019.
He has toured Sri Lanka and Australia since August 2019, as well as coaching New Zealand players in hosting England and India. Fulton continued, saying that he has enjoyed his time with the national team, but it was not easy to ignore Canterbury's offer. According to the New Zealand Cricket Board website, Fulton, a former right-handed batsman, has said, "It is a matter of pride and honor to be associated with the national team and I want to thank the players and staff because they made me feel comfortable."
Peter Fulton, 41, went on to add, "The opportunity to spend more time at home with my young family and the coaches in my home province was also the factors to apply for the job." NZC General Manager, High Performance, Brian Strong congratulated Fulton on the appointment and wished him success.
