New Zealand: New forecasts for New Zealand tourist recovery suggest it would take until 2024 for the industry to return to its "new normal." At the start of Tourism Summit Aotearoa on Monday, Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA), New Zealand,  released a Tourism Industry Roadmap to an online audience of more than 400 people. The roadmap provides an up-to-date assessment of how the industry's recovery might continue in the coming years.

The Roadmap intends to provide guidance by industry, for industry, so that tourist businesses may plan for a variety of alternative courses, according to TIA Chief Executive Chris Roberts. The Roadmap is based on the ideas and expertise of two dozen tourism executives.

"Even if operators disagree or come to their own conclusions, the work on the roadmap will serve as a foundation for their own business strategy. Because few government or private sector analysts focus on tourism, this data can be utilised to ensure that tourism is taken into account in a variety of procedures "According to Roberts. He believes that allowing international visitors to travel without having to pass through quarantine is critical to attracting them back to New Zealand.

"We understand it will be a gradual process, but the best way to get started on the road ahead is to take the first few little steps carefully and quickly." According to the Roadmap research, delays in the removal of border restrictions might result in a 16-billion-New Zealand-dollar loss in foreign exchange profits.
