USA: Jack Dorsey's career as a newsletter writer on Review has come to an end, due to Twitter's decision to shut down the platform.
According to the company, the service will be shut down on January 18, 2023. Days before the company's announcement, the new CEO, Elon Musk, expressed interest in acquiring Substack, a competitor to Revue.

Twitter is slowly spinning off all of its pre-Musk acquisitions, starting with Scroll and continuing with Revue. Despite not being as popular as Substack, Revue still generated subscription revenue for Twitter. Musk often talks about reducing Twitter's reliance on advertising revenue, so it's strange that Musk would want to shut down the review.

The creator of Revue, Twitter senior product manager Martijn de Kuijper, revealed the decision to shut down the platform in an article on Revue. Authors will be able to view analytics, their subscriber list, and download past newsletters. All information will be deleted on January 18th.
On December 20, Revue will end all paid subscriptions to prevent subscribers from being charged further.

In 2021, newsletters were all the rage. Twitter decided to join the trend by purchasing Dutch start-up Review.
The goal was to make Twitter more user-friendly for long-form writers while competing with Substack and Ghost. Twitter also targeted Meta, which at the time was rumored to be starting a newsletter.
Ironically, Meta's newsletter bulletin was discontinued earlier this year.

Why is Twitter currently removing reviews? First, newsletters no longer have their pandemic charm. Second, Musk is now in charge.
Kasturi wants a straight Twitter. To achieve this, features such as "Moments" and "Tweet From" labels have been put up for elimination. The company's decision to stop selling the Review is therefore not surprising.

After the review ends, Twitter may have a new option if you're one of those people who likes to have more to say. Musk revealed last month that long-form text would soon be added to the microblogging platform.

Musk confirmed rumors earlier this month that Twitter would increase the character limit from 280 to 4,000. Those who miss Revue may find some solace in this.
