In the wake of rising air pollution in Delhi-NCR, firecrackers were asked to be banned. Now the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has pronounced a major verdict in this matter. According to the information received, the NGT has given its order today. This order states that firecrackers will not be burnt in Delhi-NCR till November 30. The court has also said in its order that, "In the rest of the states where air quality is poor or at a dangerous level, firecrackers will be banned there."

With this, the NGT said that 'sale and use of firecrackers will be banned from 9-30 November in areas where AQI is bad, very bad and serious, but where air quality is correct or moderate, firecrackers can be operated.' According to the NGT, there will be a complete ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in NCR from midnight of 9-30 November. The ban will be reviewed after 30 November. There will be a ban on firecrackers in all such cities, where the average AQI will be at a poor or dangerous level this November as compared to last year's figures.

Simultaneously, the NGT has also stated in its order that only green crackers will be sold in cities where AQI levels are at moderate or higher levels than in November last year." Firecrackers will be used for only two hours on Deepawali. Apart from this, firecrackers will not be fired any other day. You all may be aware that the Ministry of Environment had said in the past that 'At present they do not have any such study so that it can be clear that corona cases will increase after the use of firecrackers'.
