Amit Shah to be chief guest at National Human Rights Commission's 26th foundation day function on Saturday

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest on the 26th Foundation Day of National Human Rights Commission. In a statement released before the event, the NHRC said that since its inception in 1993, the Commission has dealt with 18 lakh cases and on its recommendations, compensation of Rs 176 crore as relief to the victims of human rights violations through various state agencies has ensured.

A statement from the NHRC said, 'The National Human Rights Commission is celebrating its 26th Foundation Day on Saturday. On this occasion, a function will be organized in Dr. DS Kothari auditorium located at DRDO Bhavan. Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah will address the gathering as the chief guest. A senior official said that NHRC chairman Justice HL Dattu will preside over the function. The commission was established on 12 October 1993 under the Human Rights Protection Act passed by Parliament.
