New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced five Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists to life imprisonment. The court has sentenced the five for inciting youths from all over the country to carry out terror activities and training them in terrorism. The accused have been identified as Sajjad Ahmad Khan, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, Ashfaq Ahmad Bhat, and Merajuddin Chopan.
At the same time, the NIA court has sentenced one of the convicts Tanveer Ahmed Ghani to 5 years imprisonment. Sajjad Ahmed was accused of providing information to the enemy regarding the CRPF convoy during the Pulwama attack. The court said that all these accused had conspired together to wage war against India. The court further said that the accused were not only members of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, but they used to help the terrorists by providing them with arms, ammunition, and logistics. The court further said that the convicts were also involved in motivating the people of Jammu and Kashmir to take them on the path of terror and arranging money to carry out terrorist acts.
The NIA registered an FIR in the case in March 2019 and started investigating and making arrests. The court, while sentencing the terrorists, remarked that all the convicts conspired to wage war against India. The convicts used to provide arms, ammunition, and logistics to the terrorists.
