Jaipur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the murder of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Gogamedi, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday. The decision to involve the anti-terror probe agency comes in light of the suspected involvement of high-profile gangsters in the killing. The NIA has initiated a case in connection with the murder.

Sukhdev Gogamedi was fatally shot on December 5 at his residence in Jaipur, Rajasthan, by three assailants. Following the murder, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for orchestrating Gogamedi's killing. Two of the shooters, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were apprehended on November 9 in Chandigarh. During the investigation, they revealed that Rohit Godara had ordered the murder. Preliminary findings also indicated that, while on the run, the shooters maintained contact with Godara's close associates, Virendra Chahan and Danaram. The conflict between Godara and Gogamedi, particularly related to the extortion of money from certain businessmen, is believed to be a potential motive for the murder, according to officials.

In connection with the case, another woman, alleged to have provided weapons and arranged accommodation, along with her husband, has been arrested. Unfortunately, the third shooter died during the incident. CCTV footage captured the murder, showing two individuals firing multiple shots at the Karni Sena chief, while another person stood at the door. Gogamedi succumbed to gunshot injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Additionally, Gogamedi's security personnel, injured in the attack, also later succumbed to injuries.
