The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Inderpal Singh Gaba, one of the masterminds behind the violent attack on the High Commission of India in London last year. Gaba, a resident of Hounslow, was taken into custody for participating in unlawful activities during the March 22 protests, which followed a pro-Khalistani attack on the Indian high commission building on March 19. The NIA indicated that these events were part of a larger conspiracy against India and its missions abroad.

The attack on the Indian diplomatic mission in London was reportedly in retaliation to the arrest of Khalistani separatist Amrit Pal Singh, leader of the banned group Waris Punjab De. NIA's investigation revealed that the incidents in London on March 19 and March 22 were part of a larger plot to target Indian missions and officials.

The March 2023 protests saw Khalistan sympathizers demonstrating at the Indian High Commission in London in support of Amrit Pal Singh, which led to the removal of the Indian flag from the building. In response, the Indian community in the UK condemned the incident and called for action against the perpetrators. Delhi Police registered a case on March 24 following a report from the Ministry of External Affairs, with the Ministry of Home Affairs instructing the police to take appropriate legal action.
