New Delhi: It was the turn of the trainer after the appointment of new head coach, bowling coach and filling coach in Team India. Nick Webb has been selected as the new trainer for Team India. Nick Webb will replace Shankar Basu, in whose training, players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami benefited immensely.

The Selection Committee, led by MSK Prasad, took a practical test of 5 candidates for the post of Trainer in Bengaluru, with Nick Webb being on the top. Luke Woodhouse was at number two and Rajinikanth Sivagnanam at number three. Nick Webb's name has been sent to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri who will appoint him. Nick has been a trainer for the New Zealand women's cricket team's from Central District. Nick has also been a trainer of the Rugby team and this became the biggest reason for his selection.

According to media reports, the BCCI official said, "The biggest thing in favour of Nick Webb is that he has been associated with the Warriors of the New Zealand National Rugby League team. We believe that Nick Webb can take the fitness of Team India to another level after Shankar Basu. There has been a tremendous improvement in the fitness of the players of Team India in the last 2-3 years and all this was due to the training and tips of Shankar Basu. Captain Virat Kohli himself attributes his fitness to him.
