Nifty, Sensex End Higher For The Second Day; Auto stocks rise

Indian share markets closed higher for the second consecutive day, after swinging between the day's high and the day's low. At close, the BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 447 points higher at 50,296 while the NSE Nifty 50 index gained 157 points to end at 14,919. Forty-three out of the 50 index constituents ended the day with gains.

Tata Motors, M&M, Wipro, Adan Ports and Hero Moto Corp were among Major Gainers In The Nifty While ONGC, HDFC, Dr. Reddy, Power Grid and Coal India Were Major Losers

Auto and I.T. stocks climbed up with the Nifty Auto index ended 3.2 percent higher as the top sectoral gainer while the Nifty I.T. index also ended with gains of over 3 percent. FMCG and Pharma indices were the other sectoral gainers in today's session. Both the indices ended with gains of 1.4 percent each.

Among the other indices, the Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal and Nifty Media index ended with gains of 0.8 percent each respectively. Broader markets outperformed in today's session. The Nifty Midcap index ended 1.7 percent higher while the Smallcap index gained 1.2 percent by the close of trade.

In the auto stocks, Tata Motors gained the best passenger vehicle sales in 9 years and the stocks zoomed almost 5  percent.
