Nifty, Sensex extended their gains for 4th consecutive day

 After a cautious start, Indian equity indexes continued to rise on Wednesday, powered by gains in banking and finance sectors. The 30-share BSE Sensex finished 367 points higher, or 0.61 percent, at 60,223, while the wider NSE Nifty finished 120 points higher, or 0.67 percent, at 17,925. Both indices gained for the fourth consecutive session.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index increased 0.15 percent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index lost 0.25 percent, resulting in a mixed finish.

The National Stock Exchange's 15 sector indices all ended the day in the green. Nifty Bank, Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Financial Services, and Nifty PSU Bank all saw their stock prices rise by as much as 2.32 percent.  On a stock-by-stock basis, Bajaj Finserv was the highest Nifty gainer, rising 4.95 percent to 17,983.30. The gainers included Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, JSW Steel, and Grasim.

Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech, Divi's Lab, and Wipro, on the other hand, were among the losers.
