World champion Nikhat Zareen (52kg) of India on Tuesday promised that she will now become an Olympic champion and give a speech. Nikhat said at the award ceremony organized by the Boxing Association of India at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here that I am working hard. I assure that I will become Olympic champion and give speech here in front of all of you. India has also won one gold and two bronze medals at the World Women's Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey. Manisha (57kg) and Parveen (63kg) also won bronze medals in the competition. These medal winners and other team members and support staff members were also present at the felicitation ceremony.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Indian Boxing Committee President Ajay Singh were also present at the function. Thakur has also honored the winning players. Thakur has said about this that I want to thank the Indian team and boxers from the bottom of my heart. I would like to especially congratulate Nikhat, who in his address has now made a goal for himself to become an Olympic champion.
Continuing his point, Anurag Thakur has further said that India finished third in the competition. If you look at the table, the second and third places were 23-23 points.
