Nintendo Launches Updated Switch With Better Battery Life

After the launch of the Switch Light last week, Ningendo updated the standard switch model. There are minor changes in the new model, and the difference between the two is only to increase battery life. The new Nintendo switch uses an updated SoC, probably similar to the switch light. Codename Marico is a variation of the Tegra X1 chipset used in the original switch (Koden Logan), and it is believed to be a 16-Nm update compared to the original 20-Nm. This reduction in the manufacturing process reduces the size and, as a result, reduces the power consumption of the processor.

Another change associated with low power consumption is the change in NAND flash memory, which is considered more efficient. This is one of two changes that have recently appeared in FCC applications. This almost doubles the battery life. While the previous console promised a 2.5 to 6.6-hour battery life (based on games), the new console promises a 4.5 to 9-hour battery life.

Ningendo has already posted new models on its website without any official announcement. The new model has the model number HAC-001 (-01), which distinguishes it from the older model HAC-001. Also, the new model has a bright red packaging. The Nintendo product description on the website mentions battery life, so this could be another way to isodate the new model. According to the site, the new models will be available in mid-August. The prices are similar to the outgoing model of $299.99.
