New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a new charge sheet against retired Punjab National Bank (PNB) deputy manager Gokulnath Shetty. Shetty had allegedly cooperated with Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi to embezzle 13 thousand crore rupees. Officials said on Friday that a new charge sheet has also been filed against his wife in connection with the disproportionate assets of Rs 2.63 crore.

He said the agency has accused Shetty and his wife Asha Lata Shetty, a clerk at Indian Bank, of corruption for collecting assets worth over Rs 4.28 crore during her job from 2011-17. The scam was plotted at the Brady House branch of PNB in Mumbai, where Shetty was posted.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has alleged that he did not respond satisfactorily to assets worth Rs 2.63 crore out of the total properties, which is 2.38 times more than his known source of income. Officials said CBI examined the relationship between Shetty and Modi-Choksi during which they received information on the properties of the retired deputy manager.
