THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, conveyed a visionary directive to the nation's youth: the imperative task of constructing a 'Viksit Bharat' (a Developed India) by the year 2047.

Her statement resonated during her address to the students at the graduation ceremony of Fatima Mata National College in Kollam, situated nearly 70 kilometers from Kerala's capital, Thiruvananthapuram.

Sitharaman emphasized the pivotal role of youth in propelling India's advancement to new frontiers, urging them to harness the opportunities available today. "The youth should leverage current opportunities and align their skills with their natural aptitude," she urged.

Highlighting the overwhelming influx of information in the digital era, she advised the students to discern and assimilate credible and reliable information, navigating through the deluge wisely.

Moreover, Sitharaman urged the students to uphold a positive outlook and actively engage as constructive contributors to society. She stressed the significance of amalgamating education with patriotism, envisioning this fusion as a catalyst for nurturing outstanding individuals who significantly impact society.

Encouraging entrepreneurship among students, she underscored that each student possesses the potential to be a job creator in modern-day India. Sitharaman exemplified how the private sector's involvement in sectors like space and atomic energy has transformed India's landscape.

Recognizing Kerala's substantial contribution to India's startup ecosystem, Sitharaman highlighted the state's untapped potential, particularly in its coastal regions and spice sector. She emphasized the importance of addressing public awareness issues and positioned Kerala as a significant contributor to India's Fintech industry. Furthermore, she envisioned Kerala as a potential knowledge hub for the country's growth trajectory.
