New Delhi: The Modi government at the Center has given a big relief to the poor who are suffering from the Coronavirus. An economic package of 1 lakh 70 thousand crore has been announced under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. The government has also announced a medical insurance of Rs 50 lakh for Corona Warriors. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday that an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh is announced for ASHA workers, sanitation workers, medical and para-medical staff who are fighting against Corona.

It will benefit 20 lakh medical staff and Corona Warriors. An additional amount of one thousand rupees will be given to the elderly, widows and the disabled during the next three months. This will benefit about three crore people. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, every poor will be given 5 kg of wheat or rice free every month for the next 3 months. This will be in addition to the 5 kilograms of wheat and rice we are getting now. One kilo of lentils will also be given.

Women whose accounts are opened under Jan-Dhan Yojana will be given an amount of Rs 500 per month for the next three months. There are about 20.5 crore such accounts.
