MUMBAI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the cyclonic storm which hit the coast of Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon with winds of up to 120 kmph has started to weaken and will reduce its speed. The storm hit the Maharashtra coast around 1 pm and the landfall continued for the next three hours.

With this, heavy rain and strong winds started in many areas including Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Alibagh. In Mumbai-Pune, many trees fell due to the storm, while in Alibagh, the storm also caused havoc. There are 21 NDRF teams deployed in the state and nearly one lakh people have been evacuated to safer places. Apart from this, Coast Guard teams have also been deployed in the storm-affected areas. However, no major damage has been reported in Gujarat yet. Here 67 thousand people were evacuated to safe places.

Two people were killed and three were injured in the Pune cyclone in the Nisarg cyclone. Pune Deputy District Collector Jayashree Katare said that due to the nature storm, there were two deaths in Pune district on June 3, while 3 people were injured. Two animals also died due to electric shock in Mulshi tehsil. Restoration of power supply has started in Ratnagiri and Srivardhan. In Murud, Madgaon, Goregaon, Alibag, Mhasala, Guhagar, Dapoli talukas where electricity supply was stopped from EHV stations. As soon as the wind and rain slow down, the power supply will be started.
