Japanese Carmaker Company Nissan might soon unveil its electric car in India . The automaker is now analyzing the country's electric vehicle market and will make a decision on whether or not to launch its electric vehicles in the coming days.

Nissan Motor India's COO, Ashwani Gupta, believes India is the next great potential market for electric vehicles. "I can tell you that the Indian EV market has risen thrice in a year, and India will have a big potential for the EV industry," he added.

In a recent talk to Media Gupta said, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi car alliance is considering the possibility of entering the segment in India. Nissan's decision to enter the Indian electric vehicle market, he said, will be based on three factors. "At initially, there was a lot of excitement about the product. We are confident that, based on our previous experience, we will exceed the expectations of Indian customers."  Competitiveness will be the second factor to consider. "The only concern is how we are going to localise the batteries," Gupta added, "and this is a subject that we want to investigate." "The ecology, which includes the infrastructure, is the third," he continued, "and here is where we are going to study."

Nissan and its Alliance partners Renault and Mitsubishi revealed on Thursday that by 2030, they would have launched 35 new electric vehicles based on five common EV platforms.

To achieve its goals, the trio will invest $23 billion over the next five years. The CMF-BEV platform, which is designed for completely electric cars, is one of the five common platforms revealed by the triumvirate. This will be utilised in European markets first. "This platform may have potential all across the world," Gupta says. In a few weeks, the first electric vehicles based on this platform will hit the roads. The Nissan Ariya EV crossover and the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric will be built on it. More than 15 models will be based on the by 2030.
