New Delhi: After December 1, you need to be aware while walking on the highway. Because if a vehicle passes through the fast lane of the toll plaza without fast, then that driver will have to pay double the toll. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made this big announcement on Thursday. According to the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC), a major initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, payment will be made only through Fastag from the toll payment gate from December 1.

He said that vehicles that did not have Fastag will have to pay the double amount if they pass through the lane meant for Fastag vehicles. However, there will also be a lane on the toll plaza, where the normal toll will be taken from the vehicles without the tag. Gadkari has said that on 537 toll plazas on national highways across the country, without the Fastag vehicles will have to pay double the fee from December 1 on passing the Fastag lane.

Actually, Fastag is an electronically readable tag on vehicles. After this, when the vehicle leaves from a toll plaza, the machine installed their charges electronically through that tag. Due to this, vehicles do not have to stop at the toll gate and pay cash. Gadkari said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is distributing it free of cost till December 1 to popularize the fastag.
