Nagpur: On the eve of Independence Day, Dalit sarpanch Satyamev Jayate alias Pappu Ram of Bansa village in Azamgarh, UP has been brutally shot and killed. The Scheduled Castes Department of All India Congress took serious attacks on the increasing attacks on Dalits in UP. Nitin Raut is going to visit Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Dr. Raut Satyamev Jayate alias Pappu will visit Ram's family and is about to express condolences.

According to the information received, the killing of a dalit sarpanch in UP has become a matter of concern. After which it is realized that Dalits are not safe in UP. In this situation, Dr. Nitin Raut himself is going to meet the aggrieved family to assure the Dalit community in UP. During this time, Congress General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Priyanka Gandhi has decided to send a fact-finding committee to the village to know the truth of the case. The committee consists of Raut. Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu and Congress MP PL Punia are also going to be present with him during the yatra. They can also address a press conference.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in the crimes against Dalits, the name of Uttar Pradesh remains in the top states on issues related to rape, murder, violence and land. According to NCRB data, there has been a huge increase of 47 percent in crimes against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh from 2014 to 2018, followed by 26 percent in Gujarat, 15 percent in Haryana, 14 percent in Madhya Pradesh and 11 percent in Maharashtra.
