Patna: In a spirited speech delivered in Muzaffarpur district, Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed sharp criticism towards the Bihar government, specifically targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's administration. Shah accused the state government of manipulating population data in the caste survey, inflating the figures for the Muslim and Yadav communities. He contended that this was done as part of a broader strategy of "appeasement politics," insinuating that the Nitish Kumar-led government was favoring these groups to gain political support.
Amit Shah emphasized that the decision to undertake the caste survey in Bihar was initiated during a time when Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) was part of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), an alliance that includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, the JD(U) later severed its ties with the BJP and joined the Mahagathbandhan alliance, a coalition that comprises Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Left parties.
Taking a swipe at the opposition alliance known as INDIA, of which JD(U) and RJD are significant members, Shah alleged that their primary agenda is to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He went on to suggest that Nitish Kumar should relinquish any ambitions of becoming the country's next Prime Minister, noting that the INDIA alliance didn't even designate him as its convener.
Amit Shah expressed unwavering confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral prospects, boldly claiming that the party would sweep all 40 parliamentary seats in Bihar during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a final blow, he held Chief Minister Nitish Kumar responsible for the prevailing 'Gundaraaj' or lawlessness in the state, implying that the deteriorating law and order situation was a consequence of his leadership.
The Home Minister's speech reflected the intensifying political dynamics and rivalries in Bihar, a state that often plays a pivotal role in shaping the country's political landscape. The allegations of caste-based political maneuvering in the census data and the criticism of Nitish Kumar's governance added to the ongoing electoral fervor in the state.
