Patna: Hours, after the party was handed over the Janata Dal United leader Ramchandra Prasad Singh (RCP Singh), Nitish Kumar on Sunday, claimed that the CM did not want the post. Nitish Kumar said that he had to take over the CM's chair due to heavy pressure and he did not care about who would take over as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

During the JDU National Executive meeting, CM Nitish Kumar said, "People are saying that BJP wants the post of Chief Minister. I don't mind. I am not attached to this post." He went on to say, "After the election results came out, I had made my wish known to the coalition, but the pressure was so much that I had to work again." Explain that Nitish Kumar's statement came amidst growing tension within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following the decision of six JDU MLAs to leave the party and join the Arunachal Pradesh BJP.

In its first major response, the JDU leadership expressed displeasure over the political developments in Arunachal and stressed that this was not a good sign for the politics of the alliance. However, the JDU ensured that the Arunachal episode would not have any impact on the politics of Bihar, as it had no "controversy" in the coalition government.
