Lucknow: A person under the age of 21 is no longer allowed to purchase alcohol in the UP. Regarding this, the government has set some guidelines. The state has now fixed the limit for the retail sale of liquor and beer. The liquor and beer retail outlets will not get more than the prescribed quantity. Additional Chief Secretary, Ministry of Excise, Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that neither liquor nor beer is going to be sold to anyone beyond the prescribed limit. Nor can a person keep liquor in excess of this limit. Sales will not be made to a person below 21 years even to the prescribed limit.

It has been learned that he said that if the notification issued on March 5 of this year is found to be investigated against the person concerned, under Section 60 of the United Provinces Excise Act-1910, There is a provision of imprisonment up to 3 years and a fine of up to 10 times the excise duty involved in liquor purchased in excess of the stipulated quantity or 2000 rupees, whichever is higher. Apart from this, action can also be taken under the relevant sections of IPC.

Additional Chief Secretary said that in the new fiscal year 2021-22 starting from 1st April, individuals are going to be given license to purchase, transport, and keep in private possession of alcohol in excess of the prescribed retail limit. The quantity and conditions of different types of wines for this license are given in the Excise Policy Year 2021-22.
