CHENNAI: The genome sequencing report of the 6 international passengers who had landed at various international airports in Tamil Nadu has reported no BF.7 variant of Omicron.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister, Ma Subramanian said , the two passengers who had returned from China and had tested positive for Covid-19 had BA5.2. There was one passenger from Muscat, one from Kuwait, and one from Bangkok who had the BA.2 strain of Omicron. A different traveller who arrived from Muscat and tested positive for Omicron carries the XBB.1 strain.
As of now, the state has examined 93 samples, of which 98 percent tested positive for either BA.2 or BA.5, while the remaining 2% tested positive for the Delta variant.
The Health Minister also mentioned that all the patients are recovering well after being in home isolation.
The Central government has mandated random testing in international airports due to the Omicron BF.7 strain's prevalence in nations like China, Japan, and Hong Kong.
