Kolkata: It has been revealed whether Congress will field a candidate against Mamata Banerjee from the Bhavanipur assembly seat in the West Bengal bypoll. In fact, under the recent information, the Congress has said against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur by-election that the party will not put anyone against Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. Yes and recently this has been confirmed by state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary himself. He had made a statement in the past and added to the congress' woes. However, he has now said, "The Congress will neither field any candidate against Banerjee nor campaign against her before the September 30 bypoll.''

Let us also tell all of you that Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary told reporters last Monday, "Congress will field candidates against Banerjee in Bhawanipur.'' Not only that, he claimed that most of the PCC members were in favor of such a decision. In fact, in the West Bengal Assembly elections held a few months ago, Congress could not even open its account.

Reacting to the AICC's decision, on the other hand, CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty said, "We will field a candidate because there is a need for an alternative against the TMC and the BJP. We cannot ask Congress to change its decision.'' All of you must know that the Election Commission has decided to hold bye-elections to three seats in West Bengal, which includes Jangipur and Shamsherganj besides Bhawanipur. Voting will be held on September 30 and results will be out on October 3.
