No exit poll survey on Huzurabad by-election: Collector RV Karnan

Karimnagar District Collector and Election Officer RV Karnan spoke about not conducting exit poll survey on Hyderabad by-election. In a release, RV Karnan said that as per the Representation of the People Act 1951, Section 126(A), no exit poll survey of any kind should be conducted as well as in newspapers, television channels or other media on October 30 at 7.30 pm. should not be published or broadcast till noon. He said that banning exit polls is the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

He further warned of stern action against those predicting victory of parties on media and social media platforms. Earlier, the Collector along with Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana, Inspector General of Elections Dr Muthu Krishnan Shankar Narayan and Police Supervisor Anupam Agarwal visited the counting center at SRR Government Degree and PG College and took stock of the arrangements for counting of votes to be held on October 2.

He checked the auditorium hall, class room and indoor stadium to store EVMs and VVPATs after the election and counting of votes on October 2. He directed the police commissioner to make tight security arrangements in the strong room, where EVMs and VVPATs would be kept. He directed the officials to make arrangements for necessary furniture, CC cameras, barricades, tents, lighting and others for the counting of votes.
